First, THE FOREWORD:

After 100%ing the main game, I KNEW this game could go further with the modding community. How lucky I was to find this website. After slashing through bots with sword mods, running around freely with locomotion mods, and blasting bots with new gun mods, I knew I needed to give something back to the community. And with the help of several awesome people on this site, I've managed to get something together.

By far, my favourite mod has to have been TheInstaChef's City Centre: Endless Survival mod. The main game keeps interrupting your fun, and it was amazing to find a map that would let you keep shooting and slashing and fighting to your heart's content. The only problem with that map was that after a while, the map starts to only spawn the same few bots. I think I've remedied that.

TL;DR: Mods are awesome, this site is awesome, lets get on to what I made.

I liked the idea of the game's built in maps being able to be played infinitely. So, I took the next two maps, Old Town and Rooftops, and added infinitely spawning waves of each bot. I've been screwing around with the spawn rates quite a bit, and as it is they're quite high. It definitely adds some difficulty, and the big bots pose a serious threat of killing you if you don't keep track of them.

The maps both spawn all types of biped bots, fastbots, drones, crawlers, big bots and EliteBots. Rooftop Recall also spawns Flying bots, and Odin, after 2 minutes, drones and all. He only spawns once, I haven't figured out how to get him do despawn and respawn yet. As it is, he just kinda chills up there after you beat him. You'll see.

The high spawn rates make these maps ideal for testing weapons and weapon loadouts, to see how they affect all types of enemies. In addition, the Rooftop Recall mod includes a new Revolver, called the Shredder. It has 18 rounds, (perfectly logical) and can pretty much one shot anything. (Big Bots still need to be shot at their 4 weak points.) The revolver fires fully charged Disintegration Beams, so its also hit-scan. should help even the odds a bit.

I recommend playing this with Step Turning, ExtraMeleeDamage or one of my P-Bots Mods, and some kind of sword mod. Have fun!

Finally, I'd just like to thank Firestorm 185 and TheInstaChef for their inspiration and help in making this.

EDIT V1.1: Added intro screens, thanks to Firestorm's tutorials! Also changed the spawn location in Rooftop Recall to be a bit less... open.

EDIT V2.0: The Download links now lead to the drive folders, so the links will stay the same for new versions. Also, Finally built lighting! Unreal Swarm is really cool, and I managed to use my roommate's Threadripper 1920X to properly build the lighting in both levels. As a result, framerates and overall visual quality should DRAMATICALLY improve! Probably should have done that since 1.0, but whatever! Other minor changes may have been made, I just kind of edit as I play.

(Installer still says 1.0 for the mod, not sure how to increment version number lol dont worry about it)

That was in my list of next steps, glad to see there'll soon be a tutorial for it, Thanks! I also want to add challenges at some point, not sure if the community has reverse-engineered that mechanic yet...

I haven't reverse engineered challenges with announcements, but what I have done is when I play the level intro I tell the player what they have to do to beat a level (like in the Final Destination level I tell the player to defeat all opponents, then once all 30 or so opponents are gone I start the level end sequence)

If you don't mind telling, how did you get the swarm lighting builds to work? Every time I try in level Pearl, it starts up the swarm connection but then sits as 0% forever without doing anything.

Also, if you want to change the version number for the mod, just go to settings in the editor, then plugins, find your mod and then edit the friendly version number. ^^

How many cores/threads does your CPU have? When I first tried to build lighting way back when, it sat at 0% for about an hour, and I also thought it wasn't doing anything, despite pinning my 4 core 8 thread CPU to 100% the entire time. Turns out, double clicking the little swarm agent in your system tray brings up the REAL status bar, where I could see that the system was indeed working that entire time, but only managed to accomplish about 0.18%. It takes an ABSURDLY long time, even when only building at preview quality. (I fear to imagine how long Production quality would take...)

So that's when I deployed the Swarm Coordinator on my own machine, and ran the Swarm Agent on both mine and by roommate's 1920X. The extra 12 cores 24 threads made it only take about 15-25 minutes to build each level, again only at preview quality. I had to configure the settings for the agents so they'd look for the correct PC names on the network, (Gigabit Ethernet direct connection) and had to share my C drive in Windows so that the other machine could access the project files.

So long story short, double click the Swarm Agent in the tray to see the REAL status bar, and it does indeed take for f***ing EVER.

OH, ok, that makes more sense! xD Yeah, I'm running a Quad Core 15-4590, so a bit of an oldie. XD Good enough for most things, but I guess not lighting. XD

I really like the idea of these survival maps and I've tried to play both Old Town and Rooftops.  While the bots and spawning all seem to work just fine, I don't see any option to NOT have step turning.  For me, that smooth walking stuff is not only inefficient but it makes me sick.  I far and away prefer the original teleporting particularly how it quickly moves me to a point of better advantage.  Am I missing something or is NOT teleporting an integral part of these survival maps?  If it is, is there anyway to change movement back to teleporting?  Please understand that not everyone shares your enthusiasm for walking for many reasons.  Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure, but the maps shouldn't have snap turn-smooth loc on by default, unless hydra forgot to take the iron man pawn out of the level in the most recent update, which might have happened (I haven't tested out the newest update myself yet, but he was having trouble with removing the Iron Man pawn before)
